Storiel Sessions #1 Smargadus (Donna & Robert Lee)

Storiel is proud to present a series of musical happenings in our gallery over the next few months. The first performance in our musical season will be a rare live performance of the album Smargadus.

The record has created quite a stir as well as much head scratching since its release in 2020 to great critical acclaim. Based on a casette that was found in an old caravan in Anglesey some years ago. With almost no information on its creators or its meaning, the audio archivists and musicians Donna Lee (of Sister’s Wives) and husband Robert (member of GospelbeacH and the Canyon Family) have been researching its origin for some years and will re-perform the album in this unique event that is equal part Emerald Web and Bebe and Louis Barron Composition.

Painting and Poems Workshop

12 - 15 August 2025

Art and poetry workshop under the care of Elin Alaw. Come and illustrate a piece of the history of the Gwynedd quarrying area, in this mixed media workshop. There will be an opportunity to discuss the form and quality of an old quarryman's tin, and then experiment with charcoal and watercolour to bring life to our images. Finally, we will incorporate Glan Tecwyn's poem into our work. This two-hour session, suitable for children aged 8 and older, is open to all parents, who are also welcome to participate. No prior experience in creating art is required. Limited numbers, so please book your place in advance.
