Having established a studio in Pen Llŷn since 2010 metal work artist Junko Mori’s work practice has been subconsciously influenced by her surroundings, particularly the Irish Sea – a body of water that is clear, cold, and rich with the history of the lands surrounding it.

Juko Mori’s hand-forged metal sculptures are peerless objects of beauty that have been collected by major museums such as British Museum and National Museum & Gallery of Wales.

Hirael – ‘Pobl Iawn’: Portraits and voices of Hirael

BLAS Pontio presents a project that has captured the wonderful community of Hirael, with support from Storiel. Film-maker Gwion Aled Williams and photographer Iolo Penri, have visited Hirael numerous times over the past year, getting a glimpse of the community and the people who live there.

Roman mortaria were shallow bowls with curved rims, grit-embedded interiors for grinding sauces and wide pouring lips. I was interested in exploring these features, not for recreating the original or producing functional objects, but for meditating on form and function.
